Oliver played 5 seasons in the NFL, all with the Houston Oilers (1982-1986). The Oilers selected him in the 2nd round of the 1982 NFL Draft. He was the third quarterback taken in the draft that year. Oliver graduated from West Virginia University where he was a record setting quarterback and a two-time Academic All-American selection. Oliver was recently named to the Academic All American Hall of Fame. In 1987 he received a J.D. from the University of Texas, graduating with honors. Since 2005, Oliver has served as the president and general manager for Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo. He and his wife, Kathy, have four children: Andrew, Mary Ellen, Emily and Addison. His son, Andrew, played quarterback at Stratford High School in Houston, and was ranked as the ninth-best player in Texas and the fourth-best pro-style quarterback in the country in the 2008 recruiting class. As a redshirt freshman in 2009, Andrew was named the starting quarterback at Stanford University. Mike played 8 seasons in the NFL. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers in1997. In the Spring of 1998, the Steelers allocated Mike to NFL Europe, where he led the league in passing efficiency and helped direct the Rhein Fire to its first World Bowl Championship. Along with a second stop in Pittsburgh in 2004, his NFL career included time with the Dallas Cowboys (1998-1999), Miami Dolphins (2000-2001), and Houston Texans (2002-2003). Mike enjoys a place in Texans' history as the first quarterback signed by the team. Collegiately, Mike was a walk-on at Stephen F. Austin State University in1992. He earned a full scholarship following his freshman year and became the full-time starter his senior season. In 1996, Mike was named First-Team Academic All Conference and Honorable Mention All-Conference Quarterback. Mike graduated from Houston Robert E. Lee High School where he was an Honorable Mention All-State quarterback as a senior. Bert Emanuel Bert was a stand-out quarterback for Rice University, where he earned All-Southwest Conference honors and led Rice to its first winning season in 29 years. A two sport athlete drafted twice by Major League Baseball clubs, Bert chose to forgo a promising baseball career for the NFL. Bert is currently the founder, president and CEO of KAOS Worldwide, a technical apparel company headquartered in Houston. He and his wife, Teri, live in Houston with their five children: Sydni, Cortni, Brittni, Whitni and Bert, Jr. |
